The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is being held in Vienna, Austria, after Austria won the 2025 contest with JJ’s song “Wasted Love.” This will be the third time Vienna has hosted Eurovision, following previous editions in 1967 and 2015.
The Grand Final was scheduled for 16 May 2026 at the famous Wiener Stadthalle arena, while the sem finals take place on 12 and 14 May. Organizers selected Vienna because of its strong music culture, transport links and experience hosting major international events.
This edition was especially important because it marks Eurovision’s 70th anniversary. Fans and broadcasters expect larger celebrations, special performances, and tributes to Eurovision history throughout the week.
Around the city, Eurovision Village events, fan zones, concerts and after-parties are planned. Vienna’s Rathausplatz was host many public activities, including the traditional Turquoise Carpet opening ceremony.
The 2026 contest has also attracted attention because of political controversies and several countries discussing boycotts over international conflicts. Despite this, Eurovision remains one of the world’s biggest live entertainment events, watched by millions of viewers globally.
Many Eurovision fans online have praised Vienna as a strong host city because of Austria’s musical heritage, beautiful architecture, and the successful organisation of the 2015 contest. Fans were also excited about the large stage production and anniversary celebrations planned for this year’s event.
Eurovision continues to be more than a music competition. It has become a celebration of culture, diversity, creativity and international connection across Europe and beyond.
